The main objectives of the Earth Sciences course of studies are to:

• Introduce the major concepts and methodologies of earth sciences, including the use of modern research techniques

• Establish a broad theoretical knowledge of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and information technology

• Develop the power of observation in the field and laboratory

• Instill a sense of responsibility through perception of the interactions between man and the environment

• Promote independent work and problem-solving, as well as good communications skills
