Peter Ulmer is Titularprofessor since June 2003 at the Institute for Mineralogy and Petrology at ETH. His main research areas are igneous and experimental petrology. Peter Ulmer was born in 1958 in Adliswil/ZH. He did his undergraduate at ETH Zurich, graduating in 1983 in geology and finished his PhD in igneous petrology in 1986. From 1986 - 1988 he was postdoctroal fellow at the Geophysical Laboratory, Carnegie Institution of Washington, where he performed high-pressure experimental research. In 1989 he returned to ETH as a lecturer at the Insitute for Mineralogy and petrology, where obtained his habilitation in 2001.
