SEG award presentation

Alan Green and his former group are honoured with the SEG 2015 Distinguished Achievement Award.

The Distinguished Achievement Award is awarded from time to time to a company, institution, or other organisation for a specific technical contribution or contributions that have substantially advanced the science of exploration geophysics.

Under the leadership of Dr. Alan Green during the period 1992-2012, the Applied and Environmental Geophysics group at the Department of Earth Sciences significantly added to the field of near-surface geophysics.

The group pioneered developments in experimental design in electric resistance tomography, the use of land streamers, 3D GPR, and near-surface seismic reflection, seismic and EM modelling, joint inversion of multiple data sets, full-waveform inversion of GPR data, surface nuclear-magnetic resonance tomography, etc. In addition, their young researchers matured into leaders in multiple professions.
